I submitted my primary app at the end of June, was verified, and have submitted almost all of my secondaries. I realized recently that in my personal statement in my primary I wrote "and" where I meant to write "an." It's toward the end of it. I called AMCAS and they said I'd have to contact each school to remedy the error.

I'm worried if I contact each school it will unnecessarily bring their attention to it, but I'm also worried that if I don't say anything and they notice it they'll throw out my app. Any advice on how I should handle this situation? Since it's a smaller error, is it worth freaking out over? Thanks

... really?

Seriously, thought, don't worry about that. I would recommend NOT contacting the schools to make a single letter revision to your PS.

Lmao no hun. Calm down, it'll be okay : )

have you started considering other career paths just in case? a simple oversight like that as a doctor could cost a patient their life!

Damn. Sorry to tell you, but that's an automatic reject.

A single typo in an otherwise fruitful personal statement will still result in an automatic rejection. They're looking for ways to weed you out, and this is one of the simplest ways to do that. Better luck next year!

I know...but he or she may not know that lol. He or she seems like they're freaking out over there.

Seriously,

:troll:

The serious answer is that adcoms will recognize it as a typo and not give a second thought. You'll be fine.

Insert random d's into your secondary, so you can blame it on your keyboard.

First name: kicdk
Last name: sterd
DOB: 01/01/19dd
Secondary essay: I wantd to bed a dddddoctor because...

I agree, they will recognize that you couldn't be bothered to look over your personal statement a second time and will justify tossing out your application. I mean, if you won't look over it twice, why would they? Right?

Better luck with the Caribbean!

If you don't see the sarcasm in that statement, then you don't deserve to get into medical school.

You know how often I think this on a day to day basis lurking these forums?

hahaha moneytree, I like your thinking

As a whole it was a really good essay that I had worked very hard on over the course of several months. Thing is, I retyped it into AMCAS. I reread over the version that I typed into AMCAS and had others reread over it, just missed it, unfortunately.

No news from any schools either way yet... :xf:
