Hey everyone! I hope you all can help me out! So I just got the letter saying that I am accepted for the Fee Assistance Program so I can apply to 13 schools without an app. fee. The problem is, I have no idea which schools I should apply to. I am definitely applying to all three HBCUs since I attended one for undergrad. What do you all think would be other schools that may give me a chance? My mdapps ID is 10157. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks!

You're going to have to explain the BCPM, but if you do it well, then I say you should be alright.

I would add Drew, Tulane, NYMC, Rosalind Franklin, the UCs (they're tough, but you're a cali resident, and with a strong PS and secondary essays you can land an interview), USC, Vandy (primarily because you went to Fisk),

thanks for the advice! I'll definitely add these schools to the list!

flaahless is pretty dead on

if you're interested in texas schools, throw baylor (reach with the BCMP, but go for it), utmb, utsa, and/or utsw in there as well.

thanks texas. I'll add those as well!

How come I cannot search for people's profiles with their ID numbers?

as a precaution I would have to say be careful when it comes to throwing your money at the cali schools....so you are a cali resident. So what? That didn't stop them from kicking me, many of my friends, and countless others out of cali for med school. I hope you'll get in where you want, and you might find out that cali isn't where you want to be. They are definitely tough. I got cali interviews, and still no love.
Case Western (in Cleveland) is a great school. They usually have about 13% URM in the class, (around 20-25/year) so you can feel comfortably un isolated and still get a top rate education. They have some really great minorities in powerful places too who will help you to succeed.

I couldn't agree with you more about the Cali schools. I actually haven't been back to California since I graduated from high school in 2003, and I really dont plan on going back until after medical school. I did undergrad in Nashville and am now at UVa so, while I LOVE the west coast, I have no desire to study medicine out there. I am definitely applying to Case. I heard its a GREAT school!

You may want to also be cautious of the public Texas schools. They are required to fill at least 90% of their classes with Texas residents.
