I need advice from students accepted into IAUPR School of Optometry. I want to go to this school. My question is if I am able to take fewer classes in a semester (around 12 credits each semester)? I want to take fewer classes in a semester so that I can successfully pass all of them, even if it means taking longer to get my doctor of optometry degree. Is there any way I can take less classes in a semester at IAUPR? Please let me know.

I don't think that IAUPR offers part-time. Your best bet is Nova which offers an extended program that breaks up the first two years into 3 years. Even then though it's still well over 12 credits/semester.

Coming in as a first year student, I don't think our program offers part time. You may inquire with the Director of Admission, Mr Acosta via [email protected] or call (787) 765-1915 ext 1020, to further clarify.

Hi Mo808, how is it like as a first year at IAUPR School of Optometry? I am not a native spanish speaker and I am very concerned about being in class and not knowing what my professor is saying (if the lecture is in spanish), and/or having quizzes/home work assignments/ exams in spanish. In addition, are individuals in the admissions, registration, other offices for student support able to speak english so I can communicate with them if I have questions? Also, do you know what the consequence is for not passing 1,2 or 3 classes in a semester at IAUPR? Please let me know!

  • Incoming students (60) enrolled as Full-Time students. (But to be sure if your request is possible, call the school)
  • All classes/lecture/Exams are in English. (Except for the Spanish Class and Pre-Clinic Proficiencies in the first year, then of course use of Spanish at the Clinic during 3rd-4th year since you'll get Spanish speaking patients)
  • Administration, Registrar, Professor, Clinicians speak in English. Once in 3rd year, you'll do have to speak to the receptionist at the clinic area in spanish.
  • In regard to not passing classes, you may retake certain courses (IF it's even offered during the summer, so don't bank on it. Pass your course one try).

I have previous student loans from my undergraduate school that I did not even start to pay back. Do you know if I will be eligibile to get a student loan to pay for my entire tuition at IAUPR School of Optometry including the cost of tuition of course, books, apartment/where I will live, food, transportation, etc even if I already have existing undergraduate student loans? I have no other way to pay for my school other than student loans, I really hope I will be able to get the student loans.

I am worried about starting to pay my student loans after I successfully graduate optometry school. Are the repayment options accomodating to an individual's life? For example, if I can not make a payment for my student loan a particular month because I have many bills to pay for (this is after I am done with optometry school), can I have a low amount to pay every month for my student loans?

Are there tutors available on campus (and are they helpful) and are class mates available/willing to help one another if someone does not understand a concept, or just needs to go over material to better understand it?

Also, do you know if my living area will be close to campus? I do not have money for a car.

Thank you for answering my questions.

IAUPR is the worst optometry school by far. Just do a little research. It is an absolute joke. Some of the nonsense I have heard in lectures here is insane. I have some excellent recordings and .ppt files filled with inaccuracies and simply erroneous info if you would like to see for yourself. PM me your email. If you do attend you'll soon realize why IAUPR grads have low boards scores, the teaching is terrible!
