UBC PRE-PHARMACY APPLICANT , what is your opinion about my GPA?
I am a bio major , with GPA (pre-req=77%), and I have done many EC activity but non in pharmacy, I am planning to apply To UBC for 2011 cycle, and haven't wrote my PCAT yet
1) is this GPA competitive? I have already retaken some of my course and could not raise my GPA anymore
2) I do want to start working as a Pharmacy tech, however, it seems that most pharmacies require you to have certification, for those of you who are working as a pharmacy tech,do you suggest any place that I can work without certification?
3) Do you think having B.S will help me to get into?

To be considered for admission to the four-year program, a student must first achieve an average grade of at least 65% in the courses listed below, or their equivalents, at an approved college or university.

from http://www.ufv.ca/Advising/programplanning/programplans/UBC_PrePharmacy.htm
Students are required to write the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) and complete the above courses with a minimum GPA of 2.6 (65%) before applying to UBC's Pharmacy program. Achieving the minimum average does not guarantee acceptance into the program. For example, the average grade for admission was 78-80% while the average PCAT composite score was 85-90%.

Yeah, yours might be too low.

Having a bachelors is always a plus. As far as becoming a technician goes, you should call around. I don't know what are you're in, so I don't know where to start as far as recommending places to try. I know the big chains will hire people who lack experience, but it's up to you to get the job.

Some people say this for pharm school apps, but the same goes for job applications:

Apply broadly. 😀
