hey. i'm trying to work on the columbia secondary and have more general questions about how to calculate "semester hours" for courses. at my university, we just get "one credit" for each completed course. does anyone know how many "semster hours" one of these courses is worth? what about one semester worth of, say, orgo lab. how many hours is the lab worth? i'd really appreciate any help. thanks!

Hey I have a friend who went to Yale who had the same issue.. For most schools, 1 credit will equal 4 credits on the AMCAS/Columbia secondary. 0.5 credit is 2 credits i think......... hope this helps.

Labs are equal to one or two credits on AMCAS/Columbia..

I think you should ask your pre-med advisor about this; he or she should be able to give you the definitive answer. Making sure doesn't hurt. 🙂

Hey Dave,

I used the AMCAS one.. i think that's the one they're referring to, but I could be wrong..it's just easier since the boxes match up.
