I will be graduating with a b.s. biology in may. I have made a recent decision to go on to medical school, but I will obviously not be able to apply until the 2005 school year. I have already secured excellent letters of recommendation, etc. from my pre-health department at undergrad, but now I don't know what to do. A good friend is helping me with the whole process, but I need to decide what to do for the next year. I think I have a good chance of getting in to med. school with my credentials.
The major problem I am having is that I may be offered a 2year position at Hershey Med. as a research technician. I understand this is not going to work if I want to go to med. school, but it is a great opportunity and I am worried about the consequences if I turn it down and then do not get accepted to med. school, not really consequences for myself b/c I know I want to go to med. school; more or less I have made the decision to go and haven't told my family yet so they will not be so happy when I tell them I declined the position to apply for a chance at med. school.
To go on...I am thinking of a post-bacc program for the time in between, obviously, so I need advice on areas in SE PA to go to post bacc, I already looked at Bryn Mawr, but what are some other alternatives. Also, is there any alternative to a post-bacc program that would not involve so much money just to improve my chances at getting in to medical school. I will be the first in my family to ever attempt med. school and only the second to go to college so obviously this whole ordeal is making my family very nervous money wise...
I just need lots of advice...😕
