Hey guys, I need some help with my application for this cycle.

I am debating whether I should turn in my primary application ASAP or not, because I have some problems regarding this matter. I was originally going to turn in my primary app. on august 15th (with everything verified beforehand), but i am not sure whether i should apply earlier than that. Ok, here are the factors/reasons to consider.

1. I am a CALIFORNIA resident... and not URM.
2. I prefer UCs.
3. I have 3.81gpa(science 3.87), with both volunteering and research with department honor. O, and i just graduated.
4. I took mcat 2times. First time when i took was Apr2006, and I got 8/8/9 (which was a mistake coz i took it lightly). Second time(apr2007), I got 12/6/11, and i was pretty pissed 'cause I have never gotten verbal score less than 8 before.
5. I decided to take mcat for the third time on july13th, and I am drilling verbal like no other (with ek101), and I am aiming for 33+ with 10+ on verbal on real thing. I've been getting consistent 12+ on science sections, and ek 101's been great(although i didn't hit 11+ yet), so i think it's possible for me to hit 33+ on my third mcat.

So here's my problem. I heard that certain schools have this cut off number and I am afraid that 6 on verbal would screen me out from many schools(esp. UCs). I do not want to risk that, so that was the reason why i decided to apply on aug.15, which is the day my third mcat score comes out. My application is about 95% ready(5% being revising my ps couple more times) so it's pretty much ready to go. But the other day i was thinking applying on aug.15 might be little late so I was wondering what i should do for this kind of situation. That 6 on verbal is a real pain in the @$$.

My original plan was to take the mcat on july 13th, send the transcript to amcas on july 15th, work on some of the secondaries that are already out on the website, apply my primary on august 15th with my third mcat score(improved hopefully) and turn in my secondaries and LORs(I have 4 and they are ready to send) ASAP after.

thanks and i greatly appreciate your advice

your app should reflect the fact that you're taking the MCAT again. I would only guess that the schools with cutoffs wouldn't reject you until you get that MCAT score back..

do send your transcripts in now, though

Don't let a completed primary sit around. If it's done, send it in. When MCAT scores come out, a bunch of files will be awaiting review. I'm not sure how their line works exactly, but I'm willing to bet submitting the primary ASAP will have your app getting reviewed before all the people from your MCAT date who submit theirs between now and August 15. Really, once your app is final, there is NO reason to wait.

Good luck on the MCAT! Rock that verbal section :luck:

Edit: Not sure if my response applies to a multiple MCAT taker, sorry. I posted before I quite grasped the concept of rejection pre-secondary without the 3rd MCAT score.
