Hi i just graduated undergrad with a 2.1 gpa in anthropology B.A. I had courses from the cc i transferred that was a 4.0. Overall 3.1

So far my science courses is as follows (Quarter system):
Physics: Physics 2a (In progress - actually just failed my first midterm so apparently I can't get an A anymore..horrible since I was the top student with an A on 4 quizzes so far but a B should be doable- I'm thinking about retaking?), Physics 2b/2c haven't taken

Bio: None

Chem: Chem 14a (D+, going to retake), Chem 14b/14c haven't taken

Math: Calc 3a (A), Calc 3b (B), Calc 3c (D, going to retake)

I know I'm late and my grades suck right now but i don't want to give up. I'm willing to take the extra time to fix/retake the courses but does anyone have a recommended schedule? I'm thinking about taking 3 sciences with labs per QUARTER. If so, how would that look like?

Would it be deadly to do one of each science w/ lab EACH quarter for 3 quarters. That will finish up everything within a year and then all i have left is ochem. or is there a better synergetic combination to follow? thanks

Don't do that. There's no evidence (that you've shown here) that you can handle that many science classes at once. Doing the same thing again would be the final nail in the coffin for your ability to heal your academic record.

Start with 1, maybe 2 science courses a quarter because at this point in time, you cannot afford anything else less than an A. You've failed what may be up to three courses so far and your undergrad work did not show evidence of improvement.

Would first retake whatever courses you failed. 1-2 at a time. Then work on other courses.

I calculated that I can't get an A in physics anymore. Should i just drop it and retake it?

I don't know if it's worth the risk. @SynapticDoctah , @mamit1001 , @ananasmed , @Higherprimate any input for this?

I'm confused though, so you graduated with a 2.1 in your BA at your 4 year. But you were a transfer student from a CC and so you received a 4.0 there so your overall GPA is 3.1?

How are you taking these science courses? is this just a self employed post-bac that you are doing?

@chizledfrmstone , @Stagg737

Someone said that the overall gpa is the average gpa between CC and the 4yr that I transfer to?
I transferred to the 4yr with a 4.0, and then graduated the 4yr with a 2.1...Basically no science courses taken at either. Chem14a I took at the 4yr and physics 2a right now back at home, taking it at the cc.

Yes I'm doing a self employed post-bacc. I was doing clinical work all of summer in LA, and it wasn't until I decided to come home this fall I applied to CSU's and UC's (for self employed post bacc - no formal post-bacc's) and to take courses at the local cc while I wait, which may not have been a good idea flip flopping. I'm not sure if I should just rest up for the rest of the year and start fresh 2016/winter at a more "credit-able" university if i get in.

That's going to be a world of hurt come application time because they are going to have to go through many many different schools for your coursework, so just be sure to apply early.

I understand your story more now, thank you.

If there's no curve then it's time to drop the course. You need to make sure you do well from the get go. If you can drop without a W then drop and redo for next quarter.

If I were to drop I will get a W at the moment. Yeah I understand, pre-med courses kind of keep me busy while I had been relocating places to stay. I really appreciate the help, thanks.

Every time I have been told there is no curve, they were right, BUT there was a little boost for certain students. A curve requires ranking every student and assigning grades based on that. Most professors are aware of the difference between curve and "bonus" points and have, in my experience, said there is no curve to discourage students from psychologically depending on mercy. However, even in a class where the professor gave a 30 minute talk on how bonus points are destroying the integrity of the grading system and that you earn the grade you earn, she straight up gave me a 4% boost to the TOTAL course grade. This is probably because I would help set up chairs, pass out papers, etc. without being overly suck-up about it. I also had turned in "creative assignments" that entertained the crap out of the class.

What does this mean? It means to step up your game and try to be remembered for something positive while you do it. You'd be surprised how being a positive influence on others can help your grades. There is hope.
