Is this a problem?
Is this a problem?
Do any of you review the material from MS1 over the summer before MS2?
MS1 is low yield
The good news? Ask many physicians basic*science material or even anatomy questions and most will also respond with blank stares.
It'll come easier the second time you learn it. Just gotta ace it for Step I and it won't be as important after that.
Not true. There is a ton of MS1 material on Step 1
I really disagree with this. In my experience, many attendings have a very solid understanding of basic science. You should try your best to hold onto this knowledge as long as you can (although a lot will inevitably fade as you learn clinical medicine). Without this knowledge, you're just some technician that follows flowcharts...

you'd be surprised how much you actually remember or how quickly it comes back when you start studying for step 1
also i would caution you about thinking that MS1 stuff is low yield for step 1. the first section of FA (the part before systems) is heavily tested and you need to know it as well as anything else to do well
MS1 material except for physio is all crammable stuff before Step 1. Don't worry about biochem, anatomy, embryo until it's Step 1 time.
Well I guess it depends on how your curriculum is structured.
The part before the organ systems is behavioral, biochem, embryo, micro, immuno, path, and pharm. At my school we only cover biochem and embryo 1st year, everything else on the list is covered 2nd year.
