I think I just ruined everything.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If the ochem grade is an outlier among lots and lots of great new grades, such as the 3.7+ you have, then I wouldn't worry much. I hear lots of stories from MDs about how ochem chewed them a new orifice, but they're still MDs.

btw there's not a great deal of ochem on the MCAT.

Best of luck to you.

In my first three semesters of college, because of a mix of immaturity and family problems and drunkeness, I did very very badly. I've been working my ass off to keep a 3.7+ every semester after, and so far I've been succeeding..bringing my GPA to a (not so) great 3.1 going into my senior year.

But, I just got my Orgo II grade..C. I feel like everything I worked for has flown out the window because of this. I was studying for the MCATs, working full time in a lab, and volunteering this summer, and it was too much to try to fit in Orgo as well.

Should I retake? Do I still have a shot at SMPs? Did I ruin my life?

don't retake, it'll be a waste of time because it's not going to erase the C. if you get an A it will be expected (you already took it once) and if you don't it will look worse. and as for SMP's...you're more than ok. i have way worse stats than you and i got into one. (i'm doing post-bac instead because i need more help w/ undergrad grades.) just do well on your MCAT and keep working hard and you'll be fine

I won't be able to take the MCATs till January..I would like to apply for this cycle of the SMPs, but I know that they have rolling admission and I'm afraid that with my GPA being on the low end, I can't afford to be late. Would it be ok to take the GRE and submit an app before my MCAT scores come in or do they prefer the MCATs even if my app would be a month later?
