GPA overall ~3.50, science 4.0 ==> I graduated in 2005 from U of MN - Duluth with a degree in marketing and a 3.27. I didn't take school as seriously as I should have. I went back for my pre-dental course in Spring 2010 and have earned all A's in all my science classes. I must say, being older and more mature really had me focused on school and my overall goal of becoming a dentist.
Shadowning ~ 100+ hours ==> I have been to about 8 or 9 different general dentistry offices and spent 10+ hours in an oral surgeon's office. I have had a diverse experience shadowing and have seen quite a bit. Most importantly, I have learned a lot from talking with dentists about the profession and their experience.
Volunteering ~ 150+ hours ==> I have volunteered for Children's Dental Services as an intern, St. Jude's Hospice as a companion, my church preparing food for the homeless, my school as an ESL conversation partner, and as a math tutor for fourth graders (five years ago, however). I also worked as a tutor at my college for a year tutoring the sciences.

I am 29 years old, a husband to wonderful wife, soon to be father, and very happy fellow! My wife has a great job with health insurance and I am thinking of only applying to the U of MN. It would be much easier to pack up and leave MN to go to school anywhere else, however, having a child really changes the game. It just doesn't seem realistic to give up what we have and move away from her job and our families with a child (and possibly more in the future) on the way. The U of MN was my number one choice regardless.
Based on the above do you all think I have a chance of getting in to the U of MN? Or at least getting an interview? I would happy just for the chance to have an interview! Also, any advice would be wonderful! Thank you so much!!!
