I will be leaving the 9th of December for Christmas break, and I won't return to school until the 18th of January. That means I won't be able to check my mail for a very long time.

How do I fix this problem? Should I change my info on AMCAS, and if so, will the schools automatically get it? Is this reliable?

Thanks,

JD

Hey JDAD, welcome back!!! 🙂 I gave me college coordinater a forwarding address. Maybe someone can check your mail, or you can get it forwarded at post office. Good luck.

Have the USPS forward your mail; it's very easy. Go to http://www.usps.com/moversguide/ , and have the post-office forward your mail from the 9th to the 18th. Not only can you stay updated with medical school apps, you can get your January issue of Playboy, too!

For that length of time, you might want to check into having your mail forwarded to you through the post office (I think they will forward mail up to 7 weeks).

The problem with forwarding your mail is that it will take upwards of 1 week to get to the new address. May still be the best option, just be aware that if you are expecting time-sensitive acceptances, this may be cutting it close.

I would certainly notify any schools that you have interviewed at of the temporary address change in writing. Schools that may be sending you acceptances definitely want to know how to get them to you.

I won't be able to check the mail because I will be far away in a different state. I think I will just find someone here to check it for me, I have heard horror stories about trying to forward mail.

the vandy inerview was interesting. It wasn't sturctured at all. Here's the breakdown:
we arrived
we sat in the applicant lounge for thirty minutes
we talked about financial aid for about ten minutes
we then sat around for about an hour
we then had an information session for about thirty minutes
we then took a ten minute tour of light hall, no hospital tour included
we then at lunch
then you just sit until your interview. Some people sat for hours. If you wanted there was a tour of the new childrens hospital, if you can, make sure you do it, that place is like disney world.

Interview itself was pretty chill. No hard questions, just expect Why be a doctor, why vanderbilt.

That's all, i really felt it was a wasted trip. The interviewer isn't part of the adcom, all they do is write a paragraph and then send it in.

That said, I loved Vanderbilt, and I really really want an acceptance at that place. Good luck
