Hello everyone. First, I really appricate and thank all of you for your cooporations. I am new to this thread, but I have read many of the threads and were helpful.
I am an international student at
WCU. I applied to NSU, WIU ROS, SALUS, MCPHS, and UPIKD. My application has been completed and I just got an email from SALUS and WIN ROS saying that my applications under review.
I have an overall GPA of 3.80 and pre-req is 3.91. I did bad on my OAT (AA 240-TS 230). I had some awarded from my current university based on my academic performance.
Do you think I may have a chane with poor OAT?
Thank you.

Hard to say, that OAT score is really bad which contrasts with your GPA a lot. And the OAT is standardized, so that may say to them your university was easier than others. They'll definitely ask you to re-take it if they consider you.

My university is not that easy but I studied a lot to achieve this GPA. For my OAT the language kind put me off because I was not able to understand much of the questions and it is my fault to not prepare well and I kind have test phobia.
Thank you for your opinion.

Your GPA is great...your OAT is not. The scores range from 200-400. That means your 230 is like a 15%. 300 is the 50th percentile. I think it will be extremely difficult for an optometry school to accept that score. Your best interest would be to call the schools to which you are applying and ask them directly.

I would say make plans to retake the OAT immediately. that's not the same as taking it the first chance you get, but make sure you're thoroughly prepared (academically and mentally) by doing lots of practice exams to familiarize yourself with the language, time limits, etc. If you can't do better on standardized tests, I think schools will be skittish because they want their students to pass the board exams. Schools may keep you in consideration if you tell them that you're planning to retake it (and tell them when you will retake it, too).
