Ico Class Full As Yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
last I read on this forum, 161/160 seats have been taken.......so it's pretty much just trying to get on the waiting list from now on........

things will shuffle around in a bit tho and maybe some spots will open...i know 2 people that have been accepted to ICO that are going to decline their seats soon.

When I was interviewed it was 161/160, but they accept more than their class size.

I know that when I was done interviewing, the director of admissions said that they usually go eight or nine people into the wait list for the upcoming school year.......but I'm pretty sure it must be more than that.

Do you guys know when is the deadline to get half of my deposit back? I'm declining my seat very soon so there's one seat open for you hopeful people! 🙂

I am not too sure about if you will get the deposit back- I suppose the best way to find out is to call.

I was wondering if anyone knew how the alternate list worked. Is it right to assume that even though you were placed on the alternate list during the year that in May when they meet you might not qualify and your name might not make the FINAL ALTERNATE LIST which is decided next month? 😱 Does anyone know anything about this or can give me some insight please. 🙂 I was just wondering what the chanced were for making/ not making the final list if this is true.
Thanks guys 🙂

FIRST OFF--- THIS IS MY IMPRESSION OF THE PROCESS FORM THE INFO I GATHERED/ASKED/REMEMBER. I'M NOT SAYING I AM CORRECT FOR SURE SO IF YOU ARE THAT WORRIED, AS EVERYONE SAYS---- GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND CALL.

If I remember correctly, to get 1/2 of your deposit back, you have to give up your spot by May 15th..... but don't quote me on that.

Right now the alternate list is tentative--- they are probably still interviewing whether you want to believe it or not. When that is finally over I believe they will notify people who are on the "FINAL ALTERNATE LIST." Not sure when that is but prob end of May/early June I'm guessing.

ICO evaluates all applicants on all aspects of their application when in review, whereas some schools make you "pass" an academic standard and then only evaluate you on your interview score for the remaining part of review. I also remember the admissions people saying that they will notify the first 30 people on the ranked Alternate list that they made the "FINAL ALTERNATE LIST." The rest of the lower ranked pack gets their money/deposit back in full. (But, I think you still are on the list---- just not as likely to get a seat.)

Hope that helps and I hope I am giving accurate info. That's the way I understood it. Good luck to everyone!👍

Thanks for this great info! Do you also know what is the formal process to get 1/2 of your deposit back? Ex: write a letter, call them, etc.

You definitely get half back, I did this back in January. I just sent an e-mail to the admissions office, in letter format (since that's how they had contacted me previously) and said that I had gotten another opportunity and that I was declining the seat. I made sure to mention that I expected to be refunded half of my deposit.

Why don't they refund the whole deposit? After all, the deposit is SUPPOSED to go to your tuition in Fall right?

I just got an interview invite for ICO yesterday and have been trying to call all morning because I want to know how many seats are for sure left open in the class. Does anyone know?

I'm not sure on the status now. But I do know that my file, along with others will be reviewed tomorrow and some more acceptances will the given I'm sure.

The class is actually full, it was full on the day that I interviewed (april 8th) but we were informed that they do overaccept and that most people on their waitlist end up eventually getting an acceptance. They also have something called an "alternate list" that they can put you on which means you could get an acceptance after the accepted-waitlist is cleared (if I understood that right).

I called them today and was informed I was placed on their accepted-waitlist, so now I just have to wait.
