Thank you for your input! They are both very new, but at least ICOM has had 3 years to work out kinks in the curriculum and their board pass rate looks pretty good. I would go to a somewhat established school over Noorda, I think they are just trying to do too many new things with their curriculum and their first class will be a blood bath
Is three medical schools in one state considered overcrowded? Why do you think Noorda will have similar fate to UVU?Avoid Noorda like the plague. It’s going to be a hellish ride for them. Utah is overcrowded with medical schools as is. Noorda is going to have a slim chance of surviving (UVU ran into this problem with their PA program and look what happened..).
In Utah Yes. UofU Owns most of the hospitals in SLC and north. Intermountain owns the rest, neither wants to deal with other schools. I have family that works at one of the hospitals that Noorda has for rotations and he found out from the news that students were going to be rotating with him. However, they are a private practice and not owned by the hospital so they are refusing to have students rotate with them. So that is one site that will have no OBGYN.Is three medical schools in one state considered overcrowded? Why do you think Noorda will have similar fate to UVU?
How would Noorda be able to partner with 15 hospitals in the area if no one thinks they'll survive? Clinical Partners | Noorda College of Osteopathic MedicineIn Utah Yes. Money... And I guess I stand corrected that it's most intermountain hospitals. I would be surprised if Noorda was not paying a boatload to Intermountain health. I like Provo area and there is a lot of growth, but years ago BYU wanted to start a medical school and UofU said they would give them no support. A lot has changed since then but having your closest MD school hostile is not a good way to start off.How would Noorda be able to partner with 15 hospitals in the area if no one thinks they'll survive? I guess I'm trying to be optimistic about Noorda considering all that they have shared with students in their Faculty Friday videos, but I do understand their hopes may not come to fruition. Thanks for the discussio
