With Juneteenth now an official federal holiday, how do we get these folks at corporate to start paying us for these holidays? As far as I know, all the big chain pharmacies are not part of the 45%

Love the duality of making Juneteenth a holiday while also introducing bills to outlaw teaching critical race theory.

As for getting paid holiday pay...good luck. PharMerica only started paying for MLK day after being bought out by a Canadian company that paid for MLK day. And even then it is a floating holiday that can be paid on the pay period of your choice. I guess in case someone doesn't want to get paid holiday pay specifically for MLK day.

Chain pharmacists already work 365 days a year with with conditions of slavery (no breaks) so what does 1 day do?

"omg we can't teach this thing that is gonna make these white kids feel bad that their ancestors were evil people"

I'm all for African American reparations and holidays that make white people feel like ****.

Because then maybe we can eventually get our reparations as Appalachian Americans.

Then we teach Critical Hilljack Theory where everyone whose ancestors lived in any city on the East Coast can learn about how Appalachian people lived as de facto slaves under the coal barons via the scrip/company town paradigm so that they could have cheap electricity. About how a literal war was fought so that they could continue their subjugation under the system. (See: Coal Wars of WV) About how the US military literally dropped bombs from planes on them when they revolted. (See: Battle of Blair Mountain) How women whose husbands couldn't pay their indentured servitude debt were raped over and over again until the debt was deemed "paid in full". (See: Esau scrip system)

And then, finally, we can have a holiday where all of you feel like **** for what you put my ancestors through. I vote for August 1st. The day Sid Hatfield was assassinated.

Just about everything is virtue signaling. How this stupid term got so popular all of a sudden cracks me up.

Standing for the national anthem? Virtue Signaling.

Pride month? Virtue signaling.

Not wearing white to a funeral? Virtue Signaling.

Signaling your virtues isn't always a bad thing. It's what humans have done since time immemorial.

Pointing out that things signal ones virtues isn't some sudden genius observation that someone suddenly made. But people are going around acting like they are PhD sociologists for noting that people do things that have no purpose other than to give insight into their belief system. Like, no ****ing ****, internet. Martin Luther nailing his thesis onto the church door was ****ing virtue signaling. Jesse Owens giving the black pride salute to Hitler was virtue signaling. STFU with calling everything virtue signaling as if just using the term magically makes whatever you are labeling it instantly void of meaning. No ****ing **** it's virtue signaling. Everyone already knows this.

God I hate everything.

This isn't directed at you, more whoever the eff decided to popularize using the term all the god damned time in internet arguments.

It's more the cheap sense of self-importance that that people seek from showing they are Good People, like "I did a good thing! Look at me! I'm a good boy!"

More holiday pay...sign me up! (for "realzies")

Still waiting for a national COVID/remember COVID onset anniversary day to party #COVID-19 party with blatant disregard to social distancing, shoving stuff up your noses, blatant negligence for standard hygiene practices, toilet paper fighting/rioting, etc. (yes this is meant to be a dry, sarcastic joke)

Now they just need an August holiday.

Republicans = Don't want to even acknowledge social injustices.
Democrats = Let's virtue signal with symbolic gestures.

What about actual material value for compensation for the injustice like Lincoln and Sherman had promised?

Just give every descendant of slaves the modern value of 40 acres and a mule.

Seize the wealth of anyone who is a descendant of a slave owner and raise taxes to pay for it,

Here comes the social justice warrior Sparda with his anti-white hate and rhetoric.

Learning from past mistakes you say

Also dis guy named Roland Freisler made reference to a certain nation-state:
This jurisprudence would suit us perfectly, with a single exception. Over there they have in mind, practically speaking, only coloreds and half-coloreds, which includes mestizos and mulattoes; but the Jews, who are also of interest to us, are not reckoned among the coloreds.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been shut down or anyone banned yet.

Jesse Owens giving the black pride salute to Hitler was virtue signaling.
Jesse Owens didn't give the black power salute. Owens performed at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and gave an American military salute, in contrast to the others giving the National Socialist salute. Perhaps you're thinking of the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City where Tommie Smith and John Carlos gave black power salutes. (Photo: 1936 Jesse Owens on the left; 1968 black power on the right)

Remember kids, don't do drugs

Those special effects are pretty impressive for 1991? The morphing at the end looks like something from the Matrix.

Reparations will never happen because our politicians know it would irreparably harm black Americans and likely start another civil war. The woes of their community cannot be solved through reparations.

Eventually we're going to keep banging each other and wind up more or less the same color. It'll probably take like 500 years. But it'll happen. Then they'll look back on us as complete cavemen.

Which is cool.

Mikey like Coke Zero. *grunts*

How would it harm black Americans?

Reparations won't work. We could give every descendant of slavery a large check but it's not going to change our culture or bring people out of poverty. What happens when the woes of black Americans continue? White people will dismiss their complaints. "You said we owed you money so you got the money. Figure it out for yourself. Not my problem anymore." We will legitimize the white supremacy movement and instead of staying in the shadows, they'll be mainstream. You'll create a generation of bitter, angry people. Angry people are blind and cannot be reasoned with.

A large check wouldn't bring people out of poverty? I get that it is very easy to squander money on petty things like luxury merchandise and cars.

However, real estate and land is something else. The key is to develop generational wealth in the black community. Idk if that can be accomplished with a check, or giving away land to individuals, or not having to ever pay any form of taxes, or business grants.

NPR thinks giving money to poor people does help them get out of poverty:

Reparations will of course never happen so I don’t know why we would even discuss them. Even teaching accurate history through the lens of race is off the table for a large segment of the population.

I think many people in the general public have confused teaching neglected aspects of history as teaching critical race theory. They are 2 separate things. There are certainly people who would like to keep ignoring aspects of history....but passing laws against critical race theory doesn't prevent teaching history. And there are certainly people defending critical race theory, who really have no idea what it is, they are supporting it because they think they are supporting the teaching of history by supporting critical race theory.

I haven't looked into critical race theory enough to have an opinion one way or another, but I have looked at it enough to realize it is completely separate from teaching history.

How does generational wealth help people now? The purpose of reparations isn't for delayed gratification.
