If a school offers you an interview does that mean that you pretty much meet all of their stat requirements and now they just want to see how your personality is? I guess the question is, does someone w/ an AA of 18 have to have a much better interview than someone w/ an AA in the high 20's? So basically, are these two students on level playing grounds in the interview? I'm just curious.

Thanks!

I think it depends on the school you're interviewing at.

Some schools will tell you that it's totally up to the interview from the point you receive the interview invite.

I wish I had a more definite answer. Anyone else care to try and answer the OP's question with more detail?

I've heard for some schools an interview means everyone now has a fair chance, such as Harvard. At other schools you can tell they just want to weed out the people who can't interview at all, but mostly go by numbers (just my opinion)

If you are invited for an interview, the school thinks you are acceptable on paper. But I think at most schools, people with better numbers have better chance of getting accepted.
As far as i know schools have a huge excel sheet with all their interviewees' numbers. They would rank all interviewees and accept from the top of the list. Therefore, those with lower stats or OOS status must do better in interview.
For example, if a school interviews 300 applicants for a class of 60, they would rank all 300 and take 60 on Dec 1st and continue to move down the rank until they fill the class. However how a school makes the ranking varies. Some schools will favor high GPA and some will favor DAT.
That's how i understand the process but i could be wrong.
Good luck. 👍

It depend on which school we are talking about, but the majority will give you a score for your GPA, DAT, interview, etc.

At the end, they will add up all the component numbers for the grand sum. Then they will give out acceptance invites starting from the top of the list.
