does that mean I'll be a crappy anesthesiologist?

Finishing up my intern year w/2 unit rotations.

Love the procedures and interesting cases. Hate the 6 hours of rounding and micromanagement. Its also seriously depressing (26 y/o previously healthy female with locked in syndrome, ughh...)

Current residents, drop some knowledge on me...

just means an ICU fellowshp isnt what you want to pursue..

I'd say that hating MICU is the norm.
SICU was better, but even if you don't like SI you could be a fine anesthesiologist.

Its not like we round in anesthesia. I only like the ICU when I compare it with my floor months. Things get done quicker, people are actually sick, very little social issues. After two months of floors, I almost so the ICU as a godsend

The OR is just like the ICU, except there aren't any nurses to get in the way. Or nutrition consults, social work, family DNR/end-of-life dynamics to endure, 45 minute delays to get a pressor infusion started, RTs who gripe when you fiddle with the knobs on "their" ventilators, swallow studies, pulled Dobhoffs, the stink of code browns, 3 AM admission paperwork, accidental extubations, or rounding.

(This is a partial list, obviously.)

The things you probably hate about the ICU aren't an issue in the OR.
