I would venture a guess that most guys have played the Madden NFL video games, or at least heard of them. Every player in the game is rated for different attributes or skills (speed, acceleration, throwing accuracy, awareness, etc.) and given an overall player rating on a scale from 1 to 99. The overall rating basically takes all the player's individual attribute ratings into account and seeing how well those attributes fit the position of the player. These ratings are all determined by a single guy based on stats and week-to-week subjective evaluation of performance.

As a lifelong fan of Madden, I've sorta always evaluated other things in life based on the same sort of ratings in the video game (I.e. Movies, golf equipment, whatever). But for some reason it just dawned on me...what if we gave Madden ratings to Med schools?!?

So - everyone throw out your top ten or twenty med school ratings, along with your most overrated and most underrated!! This is a pretty useless exercise but I think it could be an entertaining avenue for debate!

Rating categories: Overall, research, facilities, atmosphere, clinical experience, location, prestige, tuition, x-factor.

Here's my totally subjective and completely useless list:

1. Harvard - 99
2. Stanford - 98
3. Hopkins - 97
4. UCSF - 95
5. Yale - 95
6. U Chicago - 94
7. Wash U - 94
8. Penn - 94
9. Columbia - 93
10. Michigan - 93
11. Duke - 93
12. UCLA - 91
13. UCSD - 90
14. NYU - 90
15. Cornell - 90
16. Mayo - 90
17. Vanderbilt - 89
18. Mount Sinai - 89
19. Pittsburgh - 89
20. Northwestern - 88
21. Baylor - 88
22. UWash - 88
23. Emory - 87
24. UVA - 87
25. Case Western - 87
26. USC - 86
27. UTSW - 86
28. BU - 86
29. Brown - 85
30. Ohio State - 85

Most underrated: Mayo
Most overrated: UWash

(Obviously I've never even been to any of these schools so these rankings have no basis, but I still think it's a fun exercise for people who love madden)

What ratings do you agree or disagree with? How would you rate the schools if med school selection were a video game?

Edit: I guess people didn't quite get this part ITS JUST FOR FUN ITS JUST FOR FUN ITS JUST FOR FUN ITS JUST FOR FUN ITS JUST FOR FUN ITS JUST FOR FUN

How is this any different than just asking people to give their opinions of what the rankings should be?

Lol at washu being most overrated. You messing with ace on purpose lol.

Put Mayo into the top5.

/my only contribution to this thread.

Makes inane thread. Says everyone who doesn't think it's awesome must not like video games or sports. Tells moderator to get out.

Keep up the good work.

👍
Did I violate the rules? Did I force you to click on this thread? Doesn't the title very clearly spell out what the thread contains?

Let me answer those questions for you: no, no, yes.

Okay, so let's think about that for a second. Yeah I understand the thread might be a little childish, but guess what! That was the purpose! Didn't you read how I said multiple times how I realize it's useless? So don't take it so seriously, it's all just for fun for people who like Madden like I do. So if you don't like it, whatever, but that doesn't mean you need to come in here and make sarcastic remarks or bang your head against the wall because nobody forced you to read it. And guess what else, this is the part that I think a lot of people don't realize: it's not affecting you!!!!!! Everybody on this website is so caught up with getting into medical school that they think anything on here that isn't 100% serious containing extremely vital information for their application is somehow making their every day life worse. Sometimes a silly thread can be useful and refreshing for some people. So I made one. And obviously it's the Internet, so I respect your right to call me out. But if you don't like the idea of the thread, that doesn't mean you should come in here and GO OUT OF YOUR WAY to make a stupid remark or put a dumb emoji on something that was in no way intended to be serious and that is not affecting you in any way whatsoever.

I'm a bigger NBA 2K fan, but Madden is cool too. You should put player comps next to the school. Like Michael Jordan would be Harvard, Lebron Hopkins, Harden UCSF, etc.
2k is pretty awesome too and I like the idea of player comps haha

I think
Kobe=Stanford (California, second best behind Jordan, pretty confident in themselves lol)

Russell Westbrook=Wash U (STATS)

Curry=??

TLDR

To respond, however: no one cares.
