If waitlisted, anyone contact interviewers to find out what went wrong?

I've been put on hold post-interview at my state school and am considering emailing my interviewers to ask abt my weaknesses to better target my update letters.

Has anyone tried this tactic?

I thought this was a good question too, so I decided to bump it up.

I have a pile of rejections that I still haven't decided about whether I should contact the school and ask: why?

It sounds like maybe a letter of intent might be good for the waitlist tho, especially if it's your first choice. I'd do a search of the LOI and see what others say.

See a lot of people are under the impression that Interview determines the decision. I don't think that's the case. Interviewees can have app of various strength. The decision is up to the adcom. If your interviewer's not on adcom, he/she probably doesn't even know why you're waitlisted/on hold, etc. Besides, interviewers are usually not supposed to comment on your app that way. You'll have to contact the director of admissions about that.

Just a thought.
