Just out of curiosity, if you apply to a medical school in say 10 different states, if you get invited for an interview in most of them, does that mean that you have to travel 10 different states? Thanks.

if you don't have an acceptance yet then yea. I mean how else are you gonna interview with them if you don't physically show up there...

oh, does that mean schools accept others without an interview?

No, I'm not sure how you got that from that post. The above poster meant that its wise to attend every interview you are offered until a school offers you an acceptance. Once you get accepted at a school you can turn down other interview invitations at schools you are less interested in attending (ie be more selective in your choices, but you don't want to do that before you receive an acceptance because its silly to limit your choices before knowing for sure you are accepted somewhere). You cannot be accepted into medical school without interviews.

Oh okay, that makes a lot of sense, thanks.

yup lots of expensive travel.

I think whenever I do an 'applying to medical school' talk the two things that shock people the most is the time/travel involved (16 months and multiple trips across the country) and the cost (5-10k). Applying to medical schools is quite a committment.

If you're a top applicant, the interviewers travel to you. You just sit in your dorm room and wait.
