what would you take?

I'm trying to decide between a beginning piano class and an intro. to sign language class... any thoughts?

Piano, but I'm a pianist and biased.

piano piano piano. I desperately wanted to take an intro to piano class during my post-bac, it was offerred only once for non-majors while I was a student there, I signed up and then they cancelled it on the 1st day of classes via a note on the door! 😡

I'd take sign language. Mainly because it would not only be fun, but could come in handy in medicine if you retain anything from it.

Also, if you haven't taken it, I would take a medical ethics class. It is fun to argue. 😳

I concur

i vote for piano. (i'm a music person 😀)

whatever you choose, i'm sure it'll be fun and a nice break from science courses. it must be nice to have electives/fun classes to fill-in some credits. i never had that option.

Piano for sure. It would be very different from your other classes and probably a good break from the regular academic routine. I would think that the sign language class would be pretty academic in structure (I think of it like a foreign language).

One of my favorite classes ever was a tap class I took in my junior year. It was such a nice break from organic, physics, genetics, etc.

Lol. Sign language 😀

Just kidding, take whatever interests you most.

Bear in mind that if you want to make significant improvements in piano you have to really stick with it for quite a while and spend a while outside of class. Personally, I'd be thrilled to have the opportunity to take a sign class (I was a music major).

I took Women's Self Defense my senior year. I got to learn lots of ways to hurt people. 🙂

I wish my school had an intro to sign language class 🙁 I want to try to take it at the community college here eventually, because I would really love to... always wanted to learn sign language...
soo, I say sign language. :hardy: then again, I've always wanted to learn piano too, so ... hmmmm.

I'm actually excited for all my classes this year.... except organic chem =)
I'm taking Intro to film history, hindi, ancient worlds, and genetics (i like genetics =D)

oh do the piano class!!!! 😍😍 music is a lot of fun!!!! 😉

Piano, hands down.

If it were me, I'd take another stage combat class, but I've taken every class but the last level (which appears to be cancelled) and I'm pregnant, so it wouldn't be safe this semester.

Piano for sure. But i think it would be cool to know sign language as well. But still piano.

Being that I was forced to take piano for two semesters, I would say take the sign language class. Don't laugh but piano actually ruined my spring semester gpa! Remember you actually have to practice, and for some people :hello:its not easy.

Hey hey, put another one down for piano!

Or music theory.. or anything music related I guess

id take piano just because you would probably use piano alot more than you would sign language in your life, unless you know someone who is deaf

No one's laughing here. Believe you me.

Yeah, it's a good point. You will always have your hands to practice sign language whenever you feel like it. Unless you are living in unusual circumstances, you will not, however, always have a piano to practice with at 3 AM.

Personally, I think a rudimentary grasp of sign language would serve you better than a rudimentary grasp of piano. For the most part, no one will be aesthetically displeased by your poor use of sign language, so long as you can convey your point...Languages are used for the purpose of communication. Piano is potentially communication, but also a whole host of other aesthetic considerations.

If you have an elective, I would take a course in economics, finance, or accounting. If you want to be a doctor, you will likely end up running a practice one day (a business) and you will need to have at least some semblance of finance to be successful.

take a bollywood film class !!

Moral Reasoning 22 - Justice in good old sanders theatre!

I'm taking photography because I have an artsy-fartsy side to me :]

I'm taking a class called Death and Dying and also a class called Health Anthro. Excited for both.
I'm also taking Death and Dying.. Don't need it but it's pretty interesting. Like half of nursery rhymes and lullabies are about death yet nobody wants to talk about death.

I took Golf in the Fall (1 credit) and First Aid (3 credits 🙂 ) in the Spring.

Both were a blast and GPA boosters!!

I tried to take a fun class every term, usually an activity class like canoeing, first aid, mountaineering, primitive technology (flint knapping, etc), wilderness survival.
