I applied first batch and have decent stats and what I believe to be a solid application. I still have yet to hear from some schools that already sent out some interview invites starting in August. Therefore, I'm wondering whether someone who submits first batch does not get the first round of interviews, does it mean they are rejected from that school or is there a chance that the school will extend an interview to them later? Any insight from last year's applicants?

Thanks in advance!

You're not rejected until you either receive a letter/email/status on portal or the school stops giving out interview invites. There is still plenty of time to receive invites as interviews go well into next year. If you're in this same position in a few months then you can really start worrying. From what I've understood, first batch merely means your application will be complete earlier and thus under review earlier and able to have more possibilities to receive interviews than if you had applied later.

Does anyone on SDN have any personal experience of not getting an interview invite initially, despite applying early, and then later (like months later) getting one?

the answer to that question should be obvious

You aren't entitled to an interview for applying early. Go check the thread from last year for interviews in February and March.
