If you took the DAT, what did you use and if you could do it again?

Just a random poll......

What books/courses/tutors/videos did you use?

What didn't you need to study or do the minimum study?

What would you change if anything or omit if you had to do it again?

How long did you give yourself to study and were you working/going to school at the same time?

Thanks so much for your input!

I used Kaplan online
DAT destroyer
Math Destroyer
Chads Video
Cliff AP Biology
Scholarware DAT practice exams

The Kaplan help me for the math section, it showed me how to take the test for that section. The Math Destroyer was helpful. DAT destroyer was helpful as well, better than Kaplan Orgo, and Gen Chem. Chads lectures were better than Kaplan lectures as well. Kaplan Bio lectures were better than Cllifs. Cliffs had alot of information that was hard to synthesize. Kaplan was helpful but I honestly think that if you had a descent background and I mean like a "C" average in Bio, Gen chem, Orgo and you use all everything I mentioned then you should get a competitive score for some school and get in somewhere.

I wouldn't study for 4 months. I would not study at home at all, and find healthier sleeping habits. I would use the 8 week study plan that is listed somewhere on SDN and save 1300. The DAT isn't terribly hard, it is rather simple and most of the material you will cover will be alot harder than the actual test. It is just that many of people have not experienced taking a 5.5 hour test covering multiple disciplines and that is rather difficult to do.

If I can do it again, I would use chads, cliffs, Dat Destryoer, Math Destroyer, Sholarware DAT practice exams and get all the help tips from SDN. I would save 1300, and use that for a nice vacation afterwords. I'm a D1 by the way.

Save 1300? on what tutoring?

Thanks for all of the info and enjoy the ride!

I took the North Eastern Regional Boards (many years ago) for hygiene and that was an all day test with some questions pulled from someone's ***** but I got a 92.
I'm glad you didn't think it was too hard that makes me feel a little more confident. Congrats on dental school and good luck!

There is nothing like a "minimum study" when it comes to DAT. No matter if it's your first time or third time, you gotta study and be ready as much as possible.

What would you change if anything or omit if you had to do it again?
I would study for math just like I did for sciences. My biggest regret was to not take math seriously. And I would practice more for RC. I had piano for the first time, so if I take the test again, I shouldn't get the same passage again.

How long did you give yourself to study and were you working/going to school at the same time?
