Unique hypothetical situation. Let's say that a student applied to dental school and had a low gpa: cum 2.96, math & science 2.90, bcp 3.16, and this same student rocked the DAT TS 23, AA 22, PA 20 with no subsection under 20. This same student also had an extended case of freshmanitis which is why their gpa is so low. After their first 87 credit hours attempted their cumulative gpa was 1.16 with math & science being 0.xx.

They then took a year and a half off and came back to school and took HEAVY course loads (I am talking insane course loads that not many people would even believe is possible like 20-27 credit hours a semester) while working 30 hours a week. They basically took no breaks from school including the summer, and eventually took 158.5 credit hours over a 3 year period while majoring in accounting but getting more than just the pre req science classes in (biochem, molecular bio, genetics, physiology, and microbio. All of these classes were at the 300 level or higher). Pretty muched aced everything including calculus and over the course of taking these last 158.5 credit hours had a gpa of: cum 3.93, math & science 3.97, and bcp of 3.96.

*person also had kick ass LOR's, but very little clinical experience except roughly 50 hours of shadowing. Also a NY State resident, took DAT end of august and applied early September.

My question is would this hypothetical student have a chance, or would their application just get looked over?

I am sure you will do fine.... oops I mean this hypothetical student.
I believe this student has definitely shown motivation and improvement form a very bad start.

I would accept you if I were an ADCOM.

If you can get past the first GPA/DAT screening cut-off you'll probably get in somewhere.
