Hello everyone,

I am at a crossroads in my undergrad career and I need a break. I think I still want to pursue dentistry in the future, but I need to straighten things out before I continue on.

Suppose you were to drop out of undergrad, what type of things would you look into doing? Dental Assisting program? Work at the local grocery store? Military? Some other type of short-term training program? Travel?

I am looking for something to do if I decide not to attend fall semester – keep in mind that this is for the traditional poor college student. Maybe someone has a good idea that I did not think about.

Thanks

Dental hygiene is only a couple years (if you're finished with the pre-reqs)...I guess if I didn't finish my degree, I would look into that.

Why not take a lighter course load in the fall. Be involved in some groups and work. Anytime off will require an explanation. Sounds like you're burning out...

WOAH WOAH WOAH............ WAit!!!! you need to think about keeping yourself from financial ruin before you drop out of undergrad. if you don't have rich parents or somebody else to pay your school loan bills back in six months after you drop out, then you're going to be in big credit trouble.

if you drop out of college and have to support yourself, you need to make sure you're going to be making enough money to pay for rent, food, transportation, clothing, etc. AND school loans. If you skip or fall behind on even just a a few monthly payments for school loans, that can really mess up your credit. THEN its going to be hard for you to get loans if you want to go to dental school in the future. if you can't get loans for dental school, then it can prevent you from pursuing your goal of becoming a dentist.

repaying school loans is a huge issue and needs to be seriously thought about before doing anything drastic.

if you are having personal problems, try to focus on school instead. don't let frivolous or temporary things get in the way of you preparing for your future. you need to take care of yourself first before you can take care of other things in your life. that's not being selfish, that's looking out for your own survival.

it may be cheaper and more beneficial to just stay in school (and can save you from a potential debt/credit nightmare!)
