I am 5th year Monash Medical School student (Central Campus- Melbourne) and a Maxillofacial Registrar in the Victorian RACDS training program.

How difficult would you say getting into a RACDS OMS registrar position is in comparison to other dental specialties?

Extremely hard nowadays. The new system requires you to have BOTH a medical and dental degree registrable in Aus before you apply for a place.
This means that one has to get the second degree off one's own back without a guarantee of being accepted for training. It's more than a bit of a gamble.

Add this to the high competition- victoria takes just 4-5 new registrars a year.

I consider it a miracle that I got through in the old system.
