hello, you've reached ____ and ____ ____. we're not at home right now, but we'd love to consider your message for a possible return call. please leave your name, phone number, a brief message (not to exceed 5300 characters, excluding spaces), the names of 5 people who will recommend that i call you back, a list of everything important you've ever done, and your social security number. while we cannot guarantee that we will call you back before april, we will certainly place you on a ranked list if your message is good enough/ funny enough/ touching enough.

LOL do it!! although it would be too funny if an adcom called to offer you acceptance and got that answering machine message... heehee

crap... i should have titled this thread, "if everything in life worked like medical school admissions."

If we've received your payment of $90 (check or money order)...

🙂

Today's group of applicants was especially competitive and while we feel certain that you will make a positive impact wherever you might end up it is with deep regret that I inform I will not be able to return your phone call.

Thank you for calling. At this point of the process we are unable to return your call. Your call has been placed in the "intermediate" file. Please feel free to forward any additional information that you think may assist us in making our decision (i.e. a letter stating that you did, in fact, intend to call us and nobody else).

Thank you and good luck,

Beeeeeep

Hehe, actually a kinda funny story...

My buddy was applying to med schools last year and he had a party at his house one night. One of his drunk friends changed his message machine to say, "Hi! You've reached Doug's PALACE OF LOOOVE. I'm not here right not, but I'll call you back as soon as I can."

The next day a med school called inviting him for an interview and got the machine because he wasn't home. We about died when we realized that he had no idea the outgoing message had been changed. hehe

That is hilarious, Bosco, I love it!
