Assuming that Meharry and Howard give a HUGE preference to African-Americans, would they also give preference to Muslims ? just curious, but i could care less...

... why would they? It's a preference for underrepresented race or ethnicity, not underrepresented religions.

So you're implying that the muslim race is underrepresented ?

no.

those schools give preference to underrepresented "ethnicities" such as african americans,,not underrepresented "religions".

WHY? Are Muslims synonymous with African-American?

This post ranks in my Top 10 lamest posts ever.

if your muslim, your most likely not white, arab or indian or something, so you have a small edge maybe?

muslim is not a race...

Not really... asians aren't considered underrepresented minorities. It's pretty much just native americans, hispanics, and african americans.

And yeah... I think religion is usually irrelevant as far as advantages for admission.

So you're implying that the muslim race is underrepresented ?

Not at all; quite the opposite, although I could see how you could have misinterpreted my post into thinking that's what I was implying.

If anything, Muslims are probably overrepresented in dentistry, as in medicine. Muslims make up ~.5% (yes, one half of one percent) of the United States population. There are roughly 175,000 practicing dentists as of 2004, and I can say with extreme confidence that more than 875 (.5%) of these dentists are Muslims.
