Hello everyone,

I'm new here. I just found out about this web site not too long ago. I wish i found it earlier, before my DAT. I was too busy w/ my studying, work and didn't even have time to surf on the net for my DAT preparation. All my information for DAT preparation was from my small amount of good friends. Anyway, I took the test today and here are my score. My PAT was sort of low, I’m not even sure I beat the average. I wonder what do u guys think about these score, whether they are good enough or I should retake it?

Bio-22
Chem-20
Orgo-27
QR-18 (coz I wasn't fast enough and didn't finish, I am a math person, I don't know what happen to me today)
RC-18
PAT-17

My overall GPA-3.5 and My sci GPA-3.45
B.S in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Any thoughts and suggestions will be truly appreciated!!!

I have to say congrats on the ORGO!!! WOW! Thats a good score for Bio, too. Schools really look the most at your sciences and PAT. The only time they would worry about RC and QT is if it was below a 16 (so your in the clear). I cant really say if the PAT is good or not... because I dont know what percentile that is. PAT scores change a lot year to year... so that may not be as high a score this year as maybe last.

I dont think you should retake it. Your science GPA is good and your scores are good. As far as numbers go, you are all set.

Make sure you have some experience (volunteering, assisting, observing, whatever). Do some extra-curicullar activites including things related to depth-perception, art, hand-eye coordination, etc.

If your personality is as good as the numbers, then you will have no problem getting into Dental School.

Best of luck!

your scores are very similar to my dat scores first time around, but u did a little better. that said, you have a much higher gpa than i did. i think u'd be pretty competitive in the next application cycle if you have adequate work in other areas such as shadowing and volunteering.

although percentile range from year to year, you do not need to worry about them because schools only look at the numbers not the percentile. 17 is average from what i know.

Those are some awesome scored dude.
You've done all the hard work i believe. Now relax and take it easy.
Goodluck.

First suggestion: APPLY EARLY!!!!

Second suggestion: Overall you did well on the DAT, especially on ochem!! Well done. But, your PAT is not great. If you are thinking of applying to the highly competitive schools (Harvard, UCLA, UCSF, etc) or those that look closely at the PAT scores (like UOP) you might need to retake it to raise the PAT. Otherwise, apply early and you should be in great shape.

good luck.

How did you prep for the DAT? Your science scores are really high...what did you do for those?

I only used Kaplan blue book and topscore practice tests. If i needed some more information I went back to my old text books. For PAT, i don't know what to suggest, I score 2-3 points lower than I normally got on my practice. In that sense, I think u could say just practicing those PAT tests are not enough.

Exactly. That's where DAT Achiever came in and helped me a lot to pull my PAT to 22, not to mention that its other sections like sciences and maths are another sets of excellent DAT prep too. Truly great explanations and if you can do the sample problems, you're bound to be adequately ready for the big day.
