Sort of (applying Med peds)
I love Jackson a lot but it’s def not for everyone, it’s probably best for people who want a combo of gritty county experience (HUGELY underserved population with all kinds of zebras) and academic connections. The rotations I’ve done there so far have all been fine hours wise (though I did a lot of 3rd year at other hospitals - including with UM/JFK and UM/HC if anyone applied to those), gen IM wards are all night float. Not sure ICU etc, haven’t rotated there yet. I didn’t feel like it was scutty, though because of its nature there can be frustrations when it comes to things like arranging discharges and services for patients with a lot of needs. I’ve liked all the residents that I’ve worked with and they seem to get along well but it’s a pretty large program so there’s many people I’ve never met. Miami is a fun and vibrant city with lots to do, and residents seem to have plenty of time for it (though if you’re a more chill rural environment loving person, maybe not for you)
