Stuck between ranking UT Houston or USF higher... UT Houston is affiliated with MD Anderson and USF is affiliated with Moffit. Any suggestion?

Top 10 wow hahah, you odds of matching your #1 are like 50% or something, maybe even higher. Top 4 is like 80-90%?
 
Anyone have thoughts on LSU-NO, MCG, and Texas A&M BSW? Which program is better in prestige, fellowship and QOL?

Its couples matching matching though so I think its different. My top 10 ranks are just different ranking combinations that include some duplicate programs.

any particular reason why? I thought this too, but a couple years ago MCG had to fill many of their spots through the SOAP, MCG also has a larger than normal # of Carib IMG grads for a mid tier/low-mid tier? program.. those things gave me a pause

Florida or Texas? At this point just go with location.

I know nothing about their IM program, but their surgery program is of dubious quality. Personally I’d rather live in Temple, Tx or New Orleans.

When programs are similar, choose location. In a few short months y’all will see none of this nitpicking actually matters.

MCG is the most academic one and also has the most research so that's why I think that. I think MCG has the best reputation compared to the other ones.

The Heme/onc match at USF is out of this world. Id go USF! Congrats on both though MD Anderson is also excellent for H/O. I agree with above though you should go with location and Tampa deff>>Houston to live
 
Would you guys pick Georgetown or University of Miami in terms of reputation and h/o fellowship match?

are you 100% flexible on what kind of city you'd like to live in? I've lived in both and they are VERY different places. Also pretty different types of institutions. don't know much about heme/onc though

Culturally DC and Miami are just very different places - both good imo but one may be better for you! the things people do for fun, the types of people you'll interact with, the weather. I think of DC as a happy hour city, whereas Miami is a nightclub city. DC has the politics, history, very international but also transitory with many people only briefly passing through, though you've also got your classic suburbia in the surrounding DMV. Lots of huge important institutions within reach, nationally speaking. Miami is international in a very different way - Extremely strong Latin American and Caribbean presence but not as much beyond that. You'll hear/speak spanish every day. I think Jackson is the biggest thing you need to be on board with for Miami - it's gritty, tough, but also an incredible place to work where you can see a ton of things and do a ton of good. You'll get plenty of cancer exposure at UMH/Sylvester (can't speak to the mentorship/research though). Georgetown doesn't have the same sort of county hospital experience, which could be good or bad based on your interests. obviously has the Jesuit angle as well. I don't have as much direct experience with their sites or program though.

Thanks for the response. Ended up ranking Miami over Georgetown.
 
Name and Shame: Vandy. Sent me what was essentially a RTM email. Didnt match a single DO. Do better Vandy have some integrity. Word of advice to M4s next year-the advice is true-do NOT listen to a darn thing a single PD says to you they will say whatever they want. Regardless I matched my #3 so Im still happy but these PDs man…everyone lies lol

Dang that sucks. He seemed very excited to take a DO. Hopefully next year a DO can match there.
