Is this common? Or even possible for that matter?

I've only heard about a few MD students who have gotten their MPH paid for during their IM residency. These students are obviously going for an ID sub-specialty. Something I'm highly interested in (ID specialty with an MPH post-residency/fellowship). I've just never really talked to anyone on the DO side that has had experience with this.

Anyone know about this type of thing? Thanks!

This is a lot more common at the fellowship rather than the residency level. Also an MPH isn't only applicable to ID

Thank you. A follow-up question would be how does one go about having this worked out during one's fellowship?

It usually comes up as a feature of the program during the interview. Some might mention it in their website. I don't know about ID specifically but this was the case for PCCM. Though many of the time the degree is some sort of MS and not an MPH.
