Haha, yeah I am very flattered and honored to be a part of UConn - I was really impressed with their program after the interview. I think its even more ironic that i got in because it was my first interview, and I was even late to it! lol Yeah, they flat out rejected me on Dec 1st. I felt really solid about the interview and everything else, but nope. DENIED hahahaha
I hope I'm not alone in this...but I didn't receive any formal acceptances today.
Here's the low-down: Applied to 8 schools, interview offers at 6 of them, attended 4 of them, and wait-listed at all 4 of them.
What's so shocking? My interviews went well, and these schools were not out of my league.
Quite frankly, I feel really shut down and can't stop wondering what they didn't like about me. Is anyone else in this situation?
It might be very disappointing now but we don't know what life will present us down the road.
Great job evan, you made it.I decide to share my story. hope it encourages some fellows. I was rejected from 15 schools last year. didn't even get into wait-list. I was a really good student in my college, and always did my best. I couldn't believe that has happened to me. You know what, that was actually the greatest thing ever happened to me. I realized how bad I want to pursue dentistry and to become a dentist. I quitted my full-time job, spent more time involving extra-curricular activities directly relates to dentistry, and studied my ass off for the DAT, again. Yesterday, I got a voice mail from my dream school. I almost cried. I am proud myself that I didn't lose my hope from the last year's outcome. Keep your chin up, we don't know what life will present us down the road.![]()

I was trying to go through my stats as well, and was wondering why a certain school I interviewed at waitlisted me. Do you guys think that completing my Bachelors Degree in 5 years instead of 4 has something to do with it? Do schools see that as a negative thing?

It depends, every situation is unique. I took 5 years because I did an informal post-bacc, but in reality earned my degree in 3 1/2 years. Was it because you were taking the minimum amount of credits per semester? Or late switch? or what?

I saw your predents profile and was wondering if you're talking about Baylor or Howard? Because if it's Baylor, I can tell you right away it's your science GPA that they're worried about. Baylor loads you down with A TON of science courses your first and second year. It's almost borderline insane. They want to know that you can actually make it through and do decent in the classes. You have to prove that to them with your science GPA more then anything.
But if my science GPA wasn't great to begin with, why did I get an interview invite? I was completely shocked, but was super happy because i've wanted to go to Baylor ever since I was an undergrad. I'm still grateful for my Howard acceptance though. In the end, it's still a DDS degree! 😀
