IM Subspecialties: Rank their competitivenss and discuss

Hi, as a service to young med students such as myself, I would greatly appreciate it for the older and wiser among us to tell us a bit about IM subspecialties. Assuming that we know generally what each subspecialty deals with, it would be great to know which fields are hot, etc (if you catch my drift). As an example:

1. Cards
2. GI
3. Crtical Care
4. Nephrology
etc.....

Also, prognostacations about the futures of these subspecialties might go a long ways to starting some good discussion.
