So i have been volunteering as a youth mentor at a school since november. On my app, I put that i started in nov, but marked till "present." School ended in early June, but I marked present bc i planned on doing the summer program and i will be coming back in the fall when school starts. The only problem is, I am not sure I want to do the summer program anymore, but I will for sure come back in the fall. The summer program is an all day thing (like camp) so i am not sure i want to be doing that right now. I dont want the committee to think I lied on it or something...do you think it looks like i did?

You can't work out any arrangements where you could volunteer for just a few hours each day? Either way, I don't think it's misleading because you will be resuming in the fall. I think you probably should have mentioned this in the description, but there may be an appropriate spot for you to clarify your involvement on secondaries.

i did explain that im coming back in the fall but still marked the "present" box bc i thought i was going to do summer stuff as well. do does anyone else think that its okay and it doesn't look like lying? ugh im worried 😕

I volunteered at the Special Olympics every year for the last 3 yrs. I also do work at homeless shelters each December. Both activities are only a few days each year, but I marked until present on my app. I think as long as your hours are accurate, you don't have anything to worry about.

No biggie. You're coming back at a later date, so "until present" was appropriate. Even if you marked it as such and later had some issue prevent you from fulfilling your intentions or you changed your mind, you'd just explain to the school during an interview (*if* they ask) what happened. As long as your app is accurate at the time of submission, you don't need to worry about anything looking fishy. Just tell the truth if it comes up--these things happen all the time.
