I get that you have a better show at schools you are "mission fit" for but after coming to undergrad and seeing how their mission philosophy really impacted the education/teaching, my schools mission looks like almost as much BS as the work on some of my assignments there lol.

So for med school, will a school's mission actually have a big impact on how/what you are taught? I get that a school that focuses on primary care will focus on primary care but for something more subtle, will a schools program be any different if they "value leadership, scholarly excellence, collegiality and any other BS over-used-SAT words they can find"?

Generally speaking, no.

Exceptions include heavily religious schools, primary care driven schools (may spend more time in primary care or underserved settings), and research heavy schools (everyone at my school is required to do a research project, for example).

Overall the information you learn is the same.

Most schools have some version of a mission of “clinical greatness, educational greatness, and research greatness”

Most of it is BS

Yeah Georgetown put the most focus on it of the schools I interacted with. A laughably low percentage of their class goes into primary care and they talk up their ortho/derm/etc matches to the extreme.

Probably much more important to HBCU and some very regional/state schools.

And USUHS lol. Very mission specific.
