I wondered how important the MSPE(Deans) letter is when it comes to psychiatry residencies. I have been hearing mixed things, with some people saying that it is one of the most important components, and others saying that residencies just take a quick look at it to ensure there are no red flags. I was wondering what you all think.

I’d say it’s very important. Not only does it have red flags, but often gives class rank, clerkship comments, histograms, etc. A lot does get skimmed but key parts get More scrutiny.
