importance of rec

how important is it to have a rec from a DO if the application says it is highly recommended. i do have a rec from an md as well as my premed committee. my grades are ok, nothing special. do i bother applying or is it not worth my time?

What are your grades? MCAT? I know plenty of friends who have made it into DO schools with only MD letters on file. Good luck

If they don't say that they require it, they don't need it. You'll be fine with a letter from MD.

thanks guys. i was just wondering because my grades are so so. also, many of the DO schools require evaluations to be completed using the evaluation forrms included. however, my school uses a committee process/virtual evals and it would be difficult for me to get that form to all my evaluators. any ideas?

I didn't use the evaluation forms provided by the schools. Most of them are fine. To be safe, you can call them if you are worried.
