How important is it to have completed human physiology, genetics, and neuroscience before applying? I know that these courses help with the material on the MCAT, but does having completed these courses help with admissions? Also, is there a way to mention on the application that two more upper level courses will taken during next term after the application will be submitted? Or is that something that one would update the schools with after the courses have been taken and grades are in?

i think the more upper-div bio courses u take, the better it looks on ur transcript, especially if u did good in them.

If you're somewhat questionable (lower pre. req GPA/non-traditional/non-science major) doing well in upper level science courses reassure ad-comms that you'll be able to understand and do well in medical school level courses.

i actually think upper level bio courses were more important...i think more an more adcoms are seeing that gen chem, orgo, and bio are not entirely representative of the stuff youll be seeing in med school as are genetics, biochem, cell structure...and plus since theyre the first courses youre taking the first two years most people dont do as well as when theyre juniors and seniors and have their head on straight. plus, theyre much more interesting (at least for me they were!) so i think it def helps...
