A major PBMs allegedly abusive audit practices were exposed this morning by the Washington Post, one of the countrys most respected papers and the paper of record for many elected officials and staff. As the Post reports, CVS Caremark has allegedly abused its power against a respected, independent community pharmacy in Washington, DC resulting in the cancellation of the pharmacys contract with the PBM which could force this neighborhood establishment to close. CVS Caremark is directing their patients to other pharmacies, INCLUDING THEIR OWN CVS LOCATIONS.
The article further referred to pending congressional legislation to rein in PBM abusive practices.
