So I am asking this question because I feel a little awkward going and asking the schools about it and wanted to get some SDN opinions first.

I am not African American, to which the schools mainly cater too. However, educationally and financially my whole life I have been underpriveleged and in situations which you could put me in a disadvantaged student, without any doubts

Little background, my parents had a combined income of around 30,000 pretty much my whole life till mid college. I also went to 11 different schools from k-12. And to be honest I know first hand how hard it is without financial and educational stability and want to help people thru oral care in underserved areas. Not to say money isnt important but certain things outweigh money to a certain extent.

I want to apply to these as well because I feel like I fit the profile of students they are looking for however I am wondering if its a bad idea because I am not African American. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Apply my friend, contrary to popular belief these schools accept others thant arent afro american. What they want are students who are committed to serving the underserved. If you show a track record of your interest in this you definitely have a good chance. Definitely apply, I know both schools like it if you show real drive for what they offer. Example calling and showing your interest is a good idea.
