Hello
This is my first post on SDN, I am really hoping someobody can help me out. I will be graduating with a science GPA of 3.3-3.35. I have finished all of my medical school pre-requisites and about 10 upper division biology classes(this includes a few labs). I am not even sure if I am eligible for a post-bacc program at this point. However my GPA is not what I want it to be, but I am not sure if an SMP would be the best choice. I am looking into the MBS program at Tufts. Since I havent applied to schools yet, I am not sure if taking the "all or none" SMP risk is worth it. However I dont expect to be accepted to any schools right now.
Let me know what you think
Thanks a lot

What's your cumulative undergrad GPA & MCAT score?

Assuming your cumulative undergrad GPA is about the same as your science GPA, and that you haven't taken the MCAT yet, my advice:
1. Kill the MCAT. Get an above average score; average is 32.
2. Apply to med school next June. Between now and next June, max out your experiences and recommendations and presentation.
3. If your app year isn't going well, start applying to SMPs in October.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you so much for your response. My overall is basically the same as well 3.35-3.4 ish. I think I will try what you suggested. However I am wondering if I can enroll in HEP without being a HCP student, just to take a couple classes and try to boost up my GPA to a 3.5?
Thanks so much

hey there, HES has open enrollment (no application process) so you can just register for classes without being an HCP student.
