Guys I took nbde part 1 in 2010 and got 75. I was disappointed. Even than I applied in universities but of course I don't get any calls.obvious
I am working as a dentist in government job in my country from past 4 year. I graduated in 2008. Had a baby too. Did some volunteer dental education in schools here.
Now I will be coming to states for a month to give my part 2 in Sunnyvale ca.
Can u guys please suggest me anything to improve my resume for next year cycle as ihav to give my toefl again. any observership in clinic, shadowing, volunteer or anything else and how to find it and will I b able to do anything in a month.
Please guys help me.

Well that is good that will give your part 2 exam and sometimes it can over-ride your part 1 scores. no one really knows what schools are looking for... but yes as you mentioned if you can shadow a dentist in the US it MIGHT help.

Volunteer assisting would definitely help.
Especially in your case if you are living outside of the US, it will show that you've had a chance to see the real world dentistry in the states and you want to be a part of it. Also you could get a recommendation letter from the doctor you worked with while you were here, which is great. They tend to trust letters that come from the states more than the ones from another country.
If I were you, I'd arrange a place to go volunteer at for the whole month before arriving and go there every day for the whole month, as much as I could. Volunteer assisting is much more powerful than observing for obvious reasons.

I'd go on craigslist and find offices that are searching for dental assistants and email them offering to work for free.

Good luck and remember persistence is the key. Your attitude on how you approach them will make or break the deal. Now that I'm working in the private world, I can tell you that they are all concerned of overhead and won't say no to free workforce if they feel comfortable with how you approach them.
Think of ways to make it happen, then it shall be!

Send a ton of emails. What's the worst that can happen? Either them not responding or saying no - neither of those two scenarios can really hurt you, think of what you are trying to achieve.
It's all about how you say things. Rather than saying "can i please volunteer at your office? I really need that experience" I'd say "I see you are looking for an RDA, I'm looking to volunteer at a dental office and I'd love to help you out if you need an extra hand" kinda thing.
Then see which emails people respond to and send out more like that. You really only need one office to say yes, right?
There are no rules and no can and can'ts. Don't be afraid and actively seek.

I would also try to go to the dental office.. wait for some time and try to speak with the dentist directly whenever he gets a five mins chance..

What country are you from? It is important to research dentist from your country in California, they can help you . If your are looking for a volunteer work, before start this volunteer work, they need a document from the pólice that shows you dont have any problems with the law from you , It takes one month aproximately. Definitive try to find friend/ dentist in California.
