You should go if you like PBL. My advice to you is to read the PBL pamphlet they send you in your invite email. If that sounds like the learning approach you take to understanding concepts, then by all means you should go. PBL was my only problem with the school. The facilities are nice, professors are sociable, and the tuition is reasonable.

It's a tough call. LECOM is $80,000 cheaper over 4 years. Most of the threads lately place cost first.

Nicer weather and 80k cheaper and also cheaper living expenses overall. But NYU is more established. I am 50/50 about this matter.

Is LECOM the school that keeps buying up advertisement banners on SDN?

I hate to say this because I hate these new non-traditional schools but I'd say go to LECOM if it's that much cheaper.

Definitely a hard call. If there is any chance you might wanna specialize, go to NYU. If not i'd say give LECOM a shot. And like a previous post said read through the PBL pamphlet and see if that's something you're okay with.

Neither, they're both expensive as crap and not great schools.

I have a friend at LECOM and she loves it.

Furthermore, it will actually be saving you 160K over the years when you include interest.

Lastly, i think the living conditions should definitely play a factor here. I personally don't like the city or the cold, so LECOM sounds pretty good to me. Plus there is the beach!

Thats a very hard choice. Your debating between one of the most expensive schools and one of the newer, less reputable schools. I guess I would probably start to factor in your end goal. Do you want to be a general dentist, or is there a chance you want to specialize? If you want to be a general dentist, then I would probably go to LECOM, cheaper and you will get your DDS. However, if you want to specialize then you may want to look at NYU. I don't know NYU's specialization rates but you could compare them to LECOMS to see if its worth spending the extra money (or at least compare them to the national average)

Thanks for your input. I think I will go on the interview. If I get accepted I will decide then.

Yes, if you think you can get in this late.

LECOM is much cheaper, and the odds of it not having accreditation by graduation are slim-to-nill. $80,000 is probably worth the hit to your educational quality so long as you have absolutely no desire to specialize.

Plus, you gotta love the warm temperatures of the Brandenton/Sarasota area even if it is lacking in the nightlife/young people department.

Yeah one of the negatives is the Bradenton. Definitely doesn't compare at all to NYC.

Go to the interview and see the school for yourself. Then you won't have any regrets. A smaller school might be more preferable to you, and it is likely that LECOM will be accredited so that should not be an issue. Good luck dentrx!

Thanks for the advice. Im going to go and check it out.
