Hi SDN. *I know this is kind of long but please read it. Thanks.

I recently got in contact with my adviser at my Community College, and we were discussing about my future classes I will take in the next couple of semesters. So I told her if I can take Bio/Chem next semester and sadly she said no. The reason behind that is because I need complete 2 more math courses which are a requirement to taking Bio/Chem. Well when she told me that I got pissed. I told her I want to go to Medical School and that I need to take these classes. She told me not too worry about not taking my pre-reqs at the Community College because I would have 2 more years to take the classes once I transfer to the University I'll be going too.

By the time I go into my University I would have Sociology,Psychology,Bio I,and Gen I completed. So should I not worry? I plan to apply to medical school once I graduate and get my B.S. Also will I have all my pre-reqs done before I graduate? Will I need another year? I'm confused and I need some help, hopefully someone that is in medical school had the same problem as me and can help me.

Your best course of action is to take non-required courses at your community college that you will need for graduation like English, history, etc. You want to try and take as many science courses at a 4-year institution as you can because the level of course intensity is much greater at a 4-year institution and those grades are therefore taken more seriously by admissions committees.

I have a community college credit for math that all the medical schools I applied to are taking, but I don't think that more than a few courses is advisable unless you can't help it.

It's great that you have a couple courses done so that you have less to do during your 2 years at the University, but overall I side with your advisor - relax and do your best to get the best grades you can.

You have TWO full math classes to go that are considered prereqs before you can take the basic sciences? The adviser is presumably making sure you don't bite off more than you can chew...bio doesn't require much math, but if you don't have the proper algebra preparation for chem you will be in trouble trying to take that class. It's much better to take your time than to set yourself up for failure by rushing into things.
