Hi all,

I'm pretty sure this questions gets asked a lot but summer vacation has started now and I'm about to prepare for the DAT's. Am currently overseas (CA) and have the whole summer to spend on studying for it.

I've spent a whole day reading this forum and have come across a few material that has been mentioned multiple times which I consider a "Must buy"

As for most of us, money is an issue, and I wanted to see which books/material you test-takers have had good experience with and that help a lot.

As for now, I have the DAT destroyer in my cart; do you recommend the DAT math too?

Would really appreciate any input!

Check out my google doc..it has all of the polls for best study materials from this forum and a bunch of other stuff. I still have to assign credit to everyone in the doc...If people could help me make this table better it would be nice. Thanks.

Thank you so much!

It's always nice for people whose taken tests to go back and thank others + give advice.

One more questions; anyone know if there is a big difference between the KBB 7th edition and the 8th edition? I'm assuming the 8th is better because its newer?? Thank you

I couldn't tell you if there is a big difference or not but I would suggest spending your money on something else rather than KBB. I got it for my first test and barely used it other then making sure it didn't mention anything that wasn't mentioned in other books. Especially biology and their PAT wasnt very good if I remember correctly. I didnt use it at all for my second take other than taking the science test at the end for extra practice. Cliffs AP bio is much much better for this and cheaper. Also, chad's videos will cover all the chemistry you need to know. If you're really trying to challenge yourself, DAT and math destroyer are good practice but expensive and somewhat overkill. Only really worth the money if you have the money and don't need a really high score on the DAT. Crack PAT will cover the pat section. Those would mainly be the essentials for an above average score.

It is to my understanding that DAT destroyer IS worth the money if you need a high DAT score...are you making an analogy that it is related to lower scores?

Thanks for correcting me. I meant that it is only worth buying if you absolutely need to challenge yourself and get higher scores that you might not have gotten if you didn't use DAT destroyer. If you are really tight on cash and have a really high GPA, a solid science foundation, and some good practice tests, I wouldn't worry about dishing out an extra 300 bucks or whatever for those books. That's just my opinion. They are definitely good practice though, but you can only go through it a few times before you have memorized all the answers and it isn't testing what you've learned as much. I think I meant to say "Only really worth the money if you have money to waste or need a really high score on the DAT."

No problem just wanted to make sure everyones on the same page!

Well, I'm thinking of getting the two destroyer books ($200) and the cliff bio (~$10) and KBB (~$40) and the chad videos (~$90).

For the PAT, Im hearing a lot of good things about the Crack PAT which I see no alternatives for.
