Dear SDN Followers,
On January 9th, 2014, the V’17 class officers and members of the V’17 class came together in an open forum to discuss a recent SDN post by a member of the Tufts community. Although there are varying opinions about the Human-Animal Relationships course and the dog walking involved, this is a very small part of our veterinary education and there are many other aspects of Tufts that provide an overall positive and rewarding experience.
We would like to clarify a few factual errors made by this original poster. V’17 students were given a number of opportunities to make our opinions known about the HAR course with the Dean, who was very willing and open to hearing our ideas and concerns. The time commitment expressed by the original poster was not representative of the actual time students needed to allocate to the class requirements mentioned by the poster. And, these class requirements certainly do not prevent students from providing sufficient care for their own pets nor do they limit the amount of time available for extracurricular activities.
Please keep in mind that the views presented by the original poster were not representative of the V’17 class as a whole and we hope that it does not discourage anyone from applying to or enrolling at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
If you have any more questions or concerns please contact [email protected].
Thank you,
V’17 Class Officers and V’17 students
