If I match, I will have to finish my PhD dissertation and defend it successfully before the 2nd week of June! Plus, I will have to grapple with visa issues (am FMG). Then, I'll have to live away from my wife and 2yo daughter for at least 1 year. And since it is most likely I'll match into a prelim spot, i'll have to go through the match again.

If I don't match this year I can finish my PhD in a more leisurely manner, get some USCE, and apply for match 2008. Plus, i'll be with my family. And I'll have more time with my PS2:D

So, getting matched is good for my ego, bad lifestyle-wise. Not matching will mean that 2007 will be a vacation year, but my ego will be bruised.....and I'll be a year older before joining a residency:(

Classic Catch-22!!
