Hey guys.

I graduated from UCLA with biology degree in 2008 and I really want to go for dentistry. Despite some of the immature mistakes I made that resulted in a 2.5 sGPA and 2.9 oGPA, I really want to clean this mess up.

I tried taking classes at my local 4-year university but was hopeless because my priority (open university) is the lowest there is. With California's budget crisis, classes are a mess. 40 people tried to add into an already full Anatomy class =(.

So adding classes as an open university student is not feasible because I can't get onto waitlist. Seniors that are waiting for that one class to graduate > waitlist > freshmen > janitor (joke) > me

Right now my last bit of hope relies on UCI.

However, if that doesn't work out, what are my options?
If money isn't an issue, what is the fastest way for me be competitive for dental schools? I'm thinking of SMP, but I don't know if they'll take me. Can someone recommend some SMPs that is good for my situation? I'll give you candy 😀

Thanks so much guys... you guys are that tiny ray of light that is preventing me from ending myself D:

Is it at all possible/feasible for you to enroll at a different school? Maybe move shop somewhere else? If not, did you see if maybe you can enroll as a second undergraduate degree student? I know at the state schools here they give second degree students higher priority.

Other than the necessary expense like schools, I hope moving out as a really last resort because I don't want to put the extra pressure on my parents. Pretty much all socal schools are like that. If I were to move shop I have to go out of state.

I haven't looked into a second bachelor because it's another 2+ years and I was hoping to just do ugrad classes for a year so I can apply for a SMP. If I really want to get another degree I would very much like to do econ or business administration, but that doesn't seem feasible

Hi. First post, but wanted to chime in.
I've also been looking into open university for a local Cal State. I was aware of our state's budget crisis and major cuts to the Universities but I didn't realize how it would affect my trying to get the courses I need. That's horrible...🙁

Wondering if this is the same for UC Extension programs?
